USA, CO: Guanella Pass Brewing Company to close for good on February 2

Another popular brewery is set to close its doors in Colorado, and its one that's loved by locals and travelers, alike, Denver Gazette reported on January 28.

According to a social media post, Georgetown's Guanella Pass Brewing Company will be closing its doors at the end of business on Sunday, February 2. Its sister restaurant, Silverbrick Saloon, will close as well.

The brewery also used the announcement post to thank patrons who took part in the spot's "wonderful journey" over recent years. A specific reason for the closure was not provided. It's worth noting that the brewery was highly-rated, at 4.7 stars on Google Reviews.

Guanella Pass Brewing Company first opened in Georgetown in 2017, eventually expanding with a taproom in Empire in 2020 that stuck around until 2023. With Georgetown's location along I-70, the brewery was a popular spot for travelers looking for a break.

The closure of Guanella Pass Brewing Company follows multiple brewery closures in Colorado that have been announced in recent weeks. One notable closure was that of FH Beerworks in Colorado Springs, which had its beers on tap and in cans around the Pikes Peak region.

The craft brewing industry has been struggling nationwide in recent months, as rising production and operational costs are resulting in higher prices that have pushed some customers away or caused them to spend less. According to a report from the Gazette, brewery closings outpaced openings nationwide for the first time since the early 2000s in 2024.

Now, the only brewery in Georgetown will be Cabin Creek Brewing, which was voted as the 'Best New Brewery in Colorado' in 2020. With 4.5 stars on Google Reviews, it's worth checking out.
