USA, WA: Evergreen State Brewing now open in Tacoma and Gig Harbor
Brewery news

The brewery formerly known as Gig Harbor Brewing has new owners, a new name, and fresh ideas, Washington Beer Blog reported on March 18.

“We are excited about this new venture for Evergreen State Brewing and the opportunities it presents for our team and customers,” said John Fosberg of Gig Harbor Brewing when announcing that he’d found someone to take over the brewery and its two taprooms. “Evergreen brings fresh ideas and perspectives that will only enhance the local brewing scene.”

John Fosberg announced last June that the brewery and its taprooms were for sale. Today we share the news that Evergreen State Brewing has taken over the brewery and the two taprooms (Tacoma and Gig Harbor). Matthew Burnett, the new owner, says, “We are thrilled to have this incredible opportunity to join the NW brewing community, and we look forward to serving the passionate craft beer drinkers throughout the region.”

Burnett is a veteran and a Tacoma native who brings a love of all things local, including beer, to the business. Evergreen State Brewing says it has “a passion for the State of Washington and everything that our state has to offer. Our beers are named after some of the coolest places to visit here as well as some fun legends, and our mission is to not only brew locally, but to source locally as well. We believe in supporting other local businesses and folks in the community.”

One of the first new beers to come from the recently acquired brewery is called 29 Tribes. It’s a red ale that serves as a tribute to Washington’s 29 federally recognized tribes. Evergreen State Brewing will donate a portion of the proceeds from the sale of 29 Tribes to MMIW (Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women). “It is a cause that is near and dear to our hearts, and our goal is to bring more attention to this worthwhile charity.”

Another new brew, Harry Henderson is a brown ale that serves as a nod to the elusive Sasquatch sightings here in the Evergreen State. High Point is a blond ale that pays tribute to Mount Rainier, the highest point in Washington.
