UK: Kelburn’s Cart Blanche voted Champion Beer of Scotland

Kelburn Brewing Companiy’s Cart Blanche has been voted Champion Beer of Scotland at the Traditional Beer Festival, held last week. Cart Blanche beat seven other finalists to the accolade at the Assembly Rooms in George Street, Edinburgh, on 10 June, Caterer informed June 12.

Organiser the Campaign For Real Ale (Camra) described the winning brew as “a golden, full-bodied ale with dry after-taste”.

Judges included John Ward, licensee of the Halfway House in Edinburgh, which was voted Best Pub in Scotland last year by Camra and Scott Barrie, MP for Dunfermline West.

Into second and third place respectively, were Black Gold and Trade Winds, both from the Cairngorm brewery in Aviemore, Inverness-shire.

Kelburn’s is located in Barrhead, East Renfrewshire. The family-run business was formed in October 2001 and began brewing in April 2002.
