Kenya: East Africa Breweries annual profit boosted by 13% on stronger regional economic growth
Brewery news

East African Breweries, the maker of Senator and Imara Kama Simba beer, said August 25 that annual profit had increased 13 percent as stronger economic growth in east Africa helped to boost incomes in the region, Business Report said August 28.

Net income rose to 5.3 billion Kenyan shillings (R529 million), or 8.18 shillings a share, in the year to end June, up from 4.7 billion shillings and 7.12 shillings a share, a year earlier, the Nairobi-based company said. The company said it was able to grow its market share with new low-end brands and volumes in Uganda up 50 percent.

East African Breweries Ltd is East Africa's leading branded alcohol beverage business and has an outstanding collection of beer and spirits brands. With breweries, distilleries, support industries and a distribution network across the region, the group's diversity is an important factor in delivering the highest quality brands to East African consumers and long-term value to East African investors.

EABL has an annual turnover of Kenyan shillings 30 Billion and it has the largest share of the beer industry in the region. The group employs more than 1000 people across East Africa. EABL has been awarded the accolade of the "Most Respected Company in East Africa", five years in a row (2000, 2001, 2002, 2003 & 2004) in a survey conducted by Pricewaterhouse Coopers and the Nation Media Group.
