UK: Small fire alert at maltsters Muntons plc in Stownmarket on October 11
Muntons’ plc technical director, Nigel Davis, said October 11 in a press release that there was a small fire alert at maltsters Muntons plc in Stowmarket at 12.45pm October 11. A forklift truck was found to be smouldering, but not creating a dangerous hazard in one of the access corridors.
Although four fire appliances were in attendance the first fire unit safely assessed the incident and the others were not needed to deal with the situation. The forklift truck was towed outside the building to insure against any recurrence of the smouldering.
All people on site were safely evacuated to the designated areas as a precaution and accounted for very quickly.
Staff were allowed back into the building at 1.05pm
