4. Industry news
South African Breweries (SAB) has reported that beer volumes in South Africa are slightly increasing. Nevertheless, profit growth will be affected by devaluation of the rand which has fallen by 37% towards the dollar over the last year.

Carlsberg Asia, the subsidiary of the Danish brewing giant, has increased its stock in the South Korean Hite brewery by another 8.4% for about US$68m.
Hite is South Korea's biggest brewery with a market interest of 54% and will be consolidated as a joint company.
This action increases Carlsberg Asia shareholding in the biggest South Korean brewery to just above 35% and improves Carlsberg Asia's position as one of Asia's largest brewery groups.
