E-Malt.com News article: Ukraine: May beer import volume grows by 91% y-o-y

In May 2009 Ukraine’s beer import grew by 88.5% to 29.46 thousand hl as compared to April, obozrevatel.com reported on July, 1.

According to official data, the nation’s beer imports constituted USD2.07 mln in money terms.

The main bulk of beer imports came from Russia (12.62 thousand hl, or 42.9% of the total import volume).

As compared to May 2008, the nation’s import of beer increased by 91%, or 14.04 thousand hl, in May this year.

Over the first five months of this year, Ukraine’s beer import grew by 2.2% to 90.56 thousand hl, it is reported.

In April, however, import volumes decreased by 31% as compared to March, to 15.62 thousand hl.
