Brewery news

Kenya Breweries Limited (KBL) has launched a new Guinness variant, Hop House 13 lager, in the Kenyan market. The alcoholic beverage was launched in Kenya on 27th September and it is currently available in Nairobi and it will roll out across the country later in the year, HapaKenya reported.

Hop House 13 is lager under the Guinness brand and is available across Europe, with Kenya being the first market in Africa to launch it.

Speaking at the launch, Kenya Breweries Limited (KBL) Marketing Manager – Guinness, Ms. Nduku Wamakau said, “Hop House 13 will launch with an experiential event that will tap into all senses of our consumers allowing them to experience the excitement about this new lager from Guinness. It has been a great success across Europe where it is currently available, and we are very excited to be the first African country to showcase this great premium, international quality lager to our beer drinkers.”

It is a full bodied lager with a 4.1% ABV (alcohol by volume). It was created in Dublin and is brewed locally in Kenya. It is made with Guinness yeast and locally sourced malt and hops. It has a sweet fruity aroma, with hints of apricot and peach, and subtle malt notes breaking through. It is fully flavored while still being crisp and hoppy (but not bitter) with a refreshing clean finish.

It comes in a brown returnable bottle and it will retail at Ksh. 210 per 500ml bottle.

First brewed by Arthur Guinness in Dublin in 1759, Guinness has since become the number one stout in the world and has been available in Kenya for almost 50 years. The Guinness Foreign Extra Stout is the brand that we are all used to. Guinness Foreign Extra Stout comes in a 300ml and 500ml dark coloured bottle.
