Australia: ABB appoints new information systems executive
Leading Australian agribusiness, ABB Grain Ltd, has announced the appointment of Ian Farnsworth as its new general manager, business processes and information systems, according to ABB’s press release, March 5.
Mr Farnsworth, who for the past seven years was chief information officer at Foster Group Ltd, will start work at ABB Grain on March 26. He replaces Paul Collins who retired from ABB Grain last month after 17 years.
ABB Grain managing director, Michael Iwaniw, welcomed Mr Farnsworth’s recruitment to the company. His key roles would be to direct the planning and implementation of whole of business systems; lead ABB’s information technology strategic and operational planning and take part in strategic and operational issues as a senior member of executive.
“Ian’s entire career has been with information and systems management,” Mr Iwaniw said.
“His impressive career highlights have included delivering an integrated solution for gaming, tourism and entertainment at Crown Casinos in Melbourne and, as CIO with Fosters, Ian was responsible for I.T. functions across their entire group and delivering key strategic I.T. platform projects.”
In other recent changes at ABB Grain, early last week chief financial officer, Peter Ryan, resigned from the company after almost seven years, citing personal reasons.
