USA: Senate approves bill adding 1% tax on beer sales
A bill putting a one percent tax on retail beer sales in Arkansas passed out of the Senate, according to The Associated Press, March 23.
The proposal, by Democratic Senator Percy Malone of Arkadelphia, would use the tax money generated to provide services to abused and neglected children in the state. Currently, the state charges a three percent tax on beer sales, but that is set to expire this year. The bill now goes to the House.
