Canada: CWB 2006-07 feed barley PRO increases
The CWB released on June 28th its Pool Return Outlook (PRO) for feed barley Pool B for the 2006-07 crop year. The PRO is up CA$5 per tonne compared to the May PRO.
Sales are close to completion in the feed barley Pool B for 2006-07. Dry weather in the Black Sea region has diminished new-crop feed barley supplies, while export demand from the Middle East has been strong. This combination has pushed world feed barley prices higher. Ukrainian export restrictions for the beginning of 2007-08 are also impacting projected barley supplies.
PROs are the CWB's estimate of crop year returns. Farmers who use PROs to make marketing decisions are advised that unusual weather in importing or exporting countries and other changes in market conditions could dramatically affect the price forecasts. PROs are not price guarantees and should not be confused with initial payments. PROs also do not represent CWB offer values for prospective sales transactions nor sales values for actual transactions.
