Burtonwood Brewery, the UK pub operator, posted a pre-tax profit of GBP 5.64 million for the financial year to 29 March 2003, versus GBP 7.68 million last year. Meanwhile, the company has registered an increase of by 14.7% of its underlying profit before tax before charging for the amortisation of goodwill, impairment of properties and loss on sale of fixed assets, up to GBP 9.3 million. Burtonwood Brewery reported that underlying earnings per share increased by 16.7% to 30.7 pence. Operating profit rose from GBP 9.38 million to GBP 10.1 million on sales up from Ј47.95m to Ј51.71m.
