France: Winter barley area sees 3.5% rise in 2008/09

The French farm ministry estimated that the country's area sown with winter barley is expected to expand, at 1.23 million hectares, up 3.5 percent from 2007 and 11 percent above the five-year average, Reuters reported December 10.
