Russia: No new beer brand launched in 2007
Russian brewers haven’t produced any new beer brand in 2007, according to Business Analitica, Russian Business reported February 20. But this is not an impediment for beer market growth: beer sales increased 17% last year. Brewers don’t want to risk by producing new beer brands, instead they try to develop “the families” of already existing beers.
Last year was one of consolidation of the Russian beer market, 90% of which is shared between six big companies. This fact should increase the competition in different price segments.
The main brands in 2007 according beer sales were: Baltika, Klinskoe and Arsenalinoe with 15.4%, 5.2% and 3.7% of beer market.
