Japan: Government buys 20,000 tonnes of feed barley via SBS tender
Japan's Agriculture Ministry bought 20,000 tonnes of food barley from Australia through a tender under the simultaneous buy and sell (SBS) system, a ministry official said, according to Reuters, March 12.
Shipments for both grains must be made between the time the contract is finalised and June 30.
Barley purchase was in line with the ministry's plan.
The SBS scheme allows users to negotiate directly with trading firms and decide the grain's origin, price and quantity before they send bids together to the government.
