India: United Breweries to approve dividend on March 26

A meeting of the board of directors of United Breweries, will be held on Mar. 26, 2008, to approve payment of dividend on 24,690,000 cumulative redeemable preference shares to Scottish & Newcastle India as on Mar. 31, 2008, Myiris reported March 17.

United Breweries registered a steep drop of 94.56% in net profits of Rs 6.90 million for the quarter ended in December 2007 from a profit of Rs 126.90 million for the quarter ended in December 2006.

Net sales quarter rose 62.04% to Rs 3,013.80 million for the quarter ended December 2007 from Rs 1,859.90 million for the quarter ended December 2006.

Shares of the company were last trading up Rs 2.8, or 1.66%, at Rs 171. The total volume of shares traded at the BSE was 2,817. (11.10 a.m., Tuesday)
