Canada: Canadian Wheat Board appoints new director

The Honourable Gerry Ritz, Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food and Minister for the Canadian Wheat Board, announced the appointment of David Carefoot as a director of the Canadian Wheat Board (CWB), Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada reported May 9.

"I am pleased Mr. Carefoot has accepted this appointment to the CWB,” said Minister Ritz. "As recent Chief Financial Officer at Viterra Inc., Mr. Carefoot knows finance and knows agribusiness. The addition of someone with such expertise will be a significant contribution to the deliberations of the CWB Board of Directors, especially as the organization tackles the important challenges facing it today.”

Mr. Carefoot served as Chief Financial Officer at Viterra Inc. from 2006 to 2008, and also held the positions of Agricore United’s Vice President, Corporate Finance and Investor Relations, and Director of Finance. Mr. Carefoot held various financial positions at United Grain Growers Ltd. and Price Waterhouse, Chartered Accountants.
