USA: Anheuser-Busch spent $820,000 lobbying in 1Q, 2008
Anheuser-Busch Cos. spent $820,000 to lobby on legislation related to cutting taxes on beer and other issues related to the malt beverage industry in the first quarter of the year, The Associated Press reported May 12.
The beer company, which wants to reduce the beer tax to its pre-1991 level, also lobbied on restrictions on alcohol advertising, trade issues with China and more, according to the form posted online April 21 by the House clerk's office.
St. Louis-based Anheuser-Busch spent more than $3.4 million to lobby last year.
Besides Congress, Anheuser-Busch also lobbied the Federal Trade Commission, and the departments of Agriculture, Interior, Commerce and Treasury.
