Uganda: Nile Breweries aids sorghum farmers
Nile Breweries has donated 40 bicycles to sorghum farmers, according to Newvision, May 28.
The bicycles and certificates were handed to 40 volunteers to help them travel among the sorghum farmers to teach them about prevention and treatment of HIV/AIDS.
Nile Breweries under its brand, Eagle Lager, gave out the bicycles as part of their social responsibility campaign and also as a way of giving back to the farmers who provide the company with sorghum, a raw material used in the production of the beer.
Francis Onapito Ekomoloit, the corporate affairs director, said Hoima, Soroti, Arua, Bundibugyo and Lira would benefit from the project called Eagle Project.
He thanked the volunteers and said the company aims at helping rural farmers.
