Latvia: Beer exports fall by 50.1% in the first nine months of 2008
Latvia’s beer exports amounted to 5,695 thousand litres in January – September 2008, the Baltic Course published the official statistics on November, 14.
The volume exported during the period demonstrated a drastic decrease of 50.1% from the results published after the first nine months last year.
57.4 percent of the beer exports went to the EU countries (to Lithuania – 44.4%, Estonia – 8.7%, Ireland – 2.0%). Noticeable volume of beer was exported to Russia – 39.3%.
Beer import in Latvia totalled 23,700 thousand litres, 4% less than in January – September, 2007.
Beer was mainly imported from Estonia – 30.4 %, Lithuania – 27.5%, less from Czech Republic – 9.0%. Some part of the beer was imported also from Russia – 15.6% of total beer imports.
