Jamaica: Desnoes & Geddes brewer says Q1 sales volume drops together with the purchasing power of the Jamaicans
Jamaican brewer Desnoes & Geddes has reported a massive drop in domestic volume sales for the first quarter of its financial year, which ended on September 30, Caribbean World News reported on December, 5.
Between July 1 and September 30, D&G’s domestic volume sales fell by 20 percent compared to the same period a year ago.
The decline in domestic volume sales came despite domestic marketing spending increasing by 36 percent and its new advertising campaigns for both D&G’s Red Stripe and Guinness, which it brews locally under license.
The firm has attributed the decline to the current economic environment and a loss of purchasing power among Jamaican consumers.
