Australia: Emerald Group announces closure of barley pools on the back of uncertain markets and fluctuating currency
Emerald Group Australia will close all of its wheat and barley pools in Western Australia, New South Wales and Queensland this week, The Weekly Times Now communicated on January, 29.
The WA Feed1 No 2 barley pool closed on January, 28.
Growers in South Australia are advised that EP Grain’s number two feed barley pool will remain open until February, 6.
Emerald’s Managing Director Mick Cattanach said, “The uncertain markets and fluctuating currency have prompted us to close the pools in Western Australia and on the east coast for uncontracted transfers this Friday.”
Growers with existing contracts can still deliver until next Friday, 6 February, following the pool closure with contracts to the pool available until 4pm (WDST) Thursday, January, 29.
All Emerald’s estimates pool returns for canola, wheat and barley remain unchanged.
