SAB, South African Breweries has bought 76% of Indian Groupe Mysore Breweries. SAB made this acquisition thought its subsidiary company SAB India. The Mysore Breweries Group consists of two breweries with a total capacity of 480,000 hl.


The purchase is estimated at 17.6m USD. The acquisition will be funded from SAB’s internal resources. A simultaneous public offer will be made to the Mysore Breweries minority shareholders..


SAB has been operating in India since October 2000, when it acquired Narang Brewery with a capacity of 120,000 hl. So, after the acquisition of Mysore Breweries, SAB has a combined capacity of 600,000 hl of its Indian breweries.
According to the SAB CEO Graham Mackay, the latest acquisition in India continues group’s strategy of building local dominance and investment in fast growing markets.


Mysore Breweries will open new opportunities for SABI in the southern Indian beer markets of Karnataka, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh, three of the four more important beer consuming states in India.
