Boston Beer Co., the maker of Samuel Adams beer, named on August 25 William Urich, 47, as its new chief financial officer. The move is effective in early September. Urich had been chief financial officer of organic food and beverage company Acirca, the company said in a statement. He replaces Richard Lindsay, who resigned from Boston Beer in March.

Sales at Boston Beer have declined for the last two quarters as the company has faced increased competition from various American brands, including Budweiser, and from imported beers.
