Interbrew will have a rival in the purchase of the Slovenian brewery Pivovarna Union, the second largest brewer in Slovenia.

Interbrew announced it was in the process of evaluating a potential partnership with Union Breweries. According to Slovenian news, Pivovarna Lasko, which is committed to a united Slovenian brewing and soft drinks industry, is also interested in the purchase of Pivovarna Union.
