United Kingdom: Diageo promises to remain committed to Scottish malting barley
London-based drinks giant Diageo has reaffirmed its commitment to using Scottish malting barley, The Farmers Guardian posted on October, 16.
National Farmers' Union president Jim McLaren said:”Diageo re-affirmed that they are, and will continue to be, committed to Scottish supplies.
About 90 per cent of Diageo’s malting barley requirements have traditionally come from Scotland and NFUS members will be reassured to hear that there are no major changes planned to this buying pattern.”
Mr McLaren added that early signals, by way of contracts, were vitally important to producers as they try to plan ahead.
