Turkey: Beer excise duty increased by 35%
Brewery news

As decided by the Turkish Council of Ministers, taxes for beer in Turkey have increased by 35%, Brewers of Europe reminded on February, 15.

The new rates entered into force following their publication in the Turkish Official Gazette of 31 December 2009.

The excise duty impact for a 1 litre volume of beer with 5% alcohol content has reached thus 1.75 Turkish Lira.

Since the excise duty of beer was previously increased by 9.2% on 14 April 2009, the excise duty was raised for the second time during the course of 2009. The new rate is 35 Lira / °alcohol / hectolitre, i.e. approximately 16 euro.
