United States: Montana’s barley harvest behind the five-year average
Montana's barley and spring-wheat harvests are behind the five-year average at this time of year but close to last year's progress, according to the Crop Weather Report released on August, 30 by the Montana Field Office of the National Agricultural Statistics Service.
The state's barley crop is 52 percent harvested, compared with 34 percent last week and 41 percent at this time last year, it is reported.
The spring-wheat crop is 31 percent harvested, compared with 14 percent last week and 40 percent a year ago.
Winter wheat is 85 percent harvested, the same progress as at this time last year. Last week farmers had 66 percent of the winter-wheat crop harvested.
