Russia: Barley imports down in January – October despite shortage at home
Russia's barley imports in the first 10 months of 2010 were lower than a year ago despite its shortage at home, while wheat exports stopped after an export ban came into force on August 15, Reuters reported on December, 10.
Russia imposed a ban on grain exports from August 15 to December 31 to curb rising prices after the worst heat wave on record. Officials have since said the ban would remain in place until July 2011.
