Japanese brewing force, Kirin, is planning to produce draught beer in China from next year, Japanese media reported. The brewer aim is to increase sales in the Chinese market. Kirin will set up a production line specifically for draught beer at its factory in Zhuhai in the south of the country, the company said yesterday The production line is planned to be launched in the summer of 2004. The factory in Zhuhai is a joint venture between Kirin and the Tongyi Group, a food maker from Taiwan. The venture, Zhuhai Kirin Tongyi, has produced Kirin-branded beer since 1999.
