UK: Winter barley plantings down 7.5% - Defra

The December survey results for the whole of the UK were released by Defra on the 10th of March showing the areas sown to winter crops as at 1st December 2010.

The results show that farmers in the UK planted winter barley on 310 thousand ha, down 7.5% (31 thousand ha) on the equivalent period in 2009, it is reported.
