Russia’s third largest beer maker, Ochakovo announced its intentions to triple its advertising budget. Next year Ochakovo will spend about US$ 20 million to advertise its production. It plans to hire international advertising agency Saatchi & Saatchi. The move follows criticism of the company for being less creative and innovative than its peers.

According to the Russian marketing agency Business-Analitika ZAO Ochakovo is the third largest Russian brewer after Baltic Beverage Holding (Baltika and Yarpivo) and Sun Interbrew. Ochakovo is producing beer in Moscow and Krasnodar. In August the company owned 7.1% of the Russian beer market. In 2003 Ochakovo plans to sell 570 million litres of beer.
