EU: Barley yield forecast to be slightly higher than last year
Barley yield in EU-27 is expected to be slightly higher in 2011, at 4.4 t/ha, versus 4.3 t/ha in 2010, EU Commission’s Monitoring Agriculture Resources Unit (MARS) reported on April, 12.
The 2011 average yield is expected to be higher for both spring and winter barley, 3.8 and 5.4 t/ha versus 3.7 and 5.2 t/ha last year respectively.
France’s barley yield this year is forecast to increase to 6.7 t/ha vs. last year’s 6.4 t/ha. In Germany, the yield of barley will be lower than last year, at 6.2 t/ha.
