US, OR: Boulevard Brewing Co. and Deschutes Brewery release a new beer brand
Brewery news

The brew masters from Boulevard Brewing Co. and Deschutes Brewery located in Bend, Oregon, released a new beer brand called Collaboration No. 2, The Kansas City Star reported on July, 19.

The white India pale ale is being made at both breweries. Each version has its own packaging and could have a slight difference in taste. Deschutes beers will be available in Kansas and Missouri this year.

Boulevard’s first collaboration, with a Belgian brewer, was released in January 2010.

Collaboration No. 2 comes as Boulevard begins its latest expansion project. The brewery, on Southwest Boulevard, recently commissioned eight new fermentation tanks from Springfield-based Paul Mueller Co. as part of a $3 million project that will increase its fermentation capacity by about 20 percent. The new tanks will be housed in a 35-foot-tall, glass-enclosed structure.

Construction starts in October.

The brewery completed a $4 million expansion project last summer that included three fermentation tanks and refrigeration equipment.

A company spokeswoman said Boulevard’s sales increased by 7 percent from 2009 to 2010 and are expected to increase by 7 percent again this year.
