Germany: Barley and malt exports decline in July 2011
The German statistics office reports that Germany exported 536,000 t of grain in July 2011, compared to 1.1 mln tonnes in July 2010. Exports to other EU countries reached 375,000 (702,000) tonnes and to third countries 161,000 (427,000) tonnes. Exports of barley accounted for 44,000 (160,000) tonnes, and those of malt for 27,000 (56,000) tonnes.
Grain imports totalled 469,000 (714,000) tonnes, thereof those from other EU countries 446,000 (692,000) tonnes and those from third countries 22,000 (22,000) tonnes. Barley imports stood at 113,000 (176,000) tonnes, those of malt at 30,000 (24,000) tonnes.
