Germany: Barley and malt trade declines in July – August 2011
The German statistics office reports that Germany exported 1.1 mln t of grain from July to August 2011 compared to 1.9 mln t in the same period of last year.
Exports of barley accounted for 74,000 tonnes (290,000 in the same period last year), whereas exports of malt declined to 49,000 tonnes from 85,000 a year ago.
Barley imports totalled 236,000 tonnes (335,000) and those of malt stood at 55,000 tonnes (46,000).
