Canada, YK: Yukon Brewing launches a new Cask Ale Series
Brewery news

Canada’s northernmost brewing company, Yukon Brewing, has launched a new series that will see a different cask ale available for growler fills at the brewery store each week, Canadian Beer News reported on February, 16.

According to Yukon founder and president Bob Baxter, the intent of the program is to “keep our brewers engaged and imaginative, and keep our customers appreciative of having a local brewery by giving them more of what they could not otherwise get.”

The series started with a special version of the brewery’s flagship pale ale, Yukon Gold, with honey used as the priming sugar. It will continue with a variation on Yukon Red primed with maltose, and next week will feature Lead Dog Ale primed with Demerara sugar. Future installments are being planned by brewer Rob Monk, and release dates and details on the beer to be featured will be announced each week via the brewery’s Twitter and Facebook accounts.

Currently, the brewery has six casks in rotation, with two being filled for each beer.

Baxter notes that there are no plans at this time to have cask ale available in local bars and restaurants, but that may be explored in the future
