Latvia: Per capita beer consumption increases by 15% in 2011 - estimate
Latvia’s per capita beer consumption grew by 15% last year, approaching the average EU level, Nozare.lv reported on April, 2.
In 2011, the nation’s per capita beer consumption totalled 81 litres vs. 70 litres in 2010. In the Czech Republic, the per capita beer consumption is around 150 litres, in Germany 109 litres and in Austria 108 litres, it is estimated.
According to data provided by Latvia State Revenue Service, 1.63 mln hl of beer were available for consumption in 2011, an increase of 4% on 2010 and 9% more than in 2009.
