Kenya & Uganda: East African Breweries to invest $39.1 mln in a canning line and a mash filter plant
East African Breweries Ltd will launch two major investments next month; a canning line in Kenya and a mash filter plant in Uganda. The investments are expected to cost the brewer $39.1 mln, The East African reported on April, 21.
EABL last year received a $234 mln loan from Diageo, its parent company, to finance the acquisition of a 20pc stake in Kenya Breweries Ltd, which was held by rival SABMiller.
The mash filter project in Uganda will increase the capacity of the company’s brewery there from one million hectolitres to 1.5 million hectolitres per annum, it is reported.
