Ukraine: Beer prices may grow by up to 15% this year
Brewery news

Ukraine beer prices may increase by the end of this year by as much as 15%, Delo reported earlier this week.

According to industry players, it will be possible to keep the increase within this limit only if no economy force major events, such as hryvna devaluation, occur. “If hryvna starts to drop, I don’t dare to forecast the consequences,” Peter Chernyshov, CEO at Carlsberg Ukraine, said.

Energy prices, dollar- and euro-related expenses, as well as any changes in the exchange rates have the most significant impact on beer prices in Ukraine, Chernyshov said.

The nation’s beer market is expected to grow by 3-4% this year. The increase would have been more significant, if not for the cold weather this spring, Carlsberg Ukraine CEO said.

In 2011, Carlsberg was Ukraine’s second-largest brewer after SUN InBev Ukraine, accounting, according to AC Nielsen data, for 28.8% of the market.
