USA, KS: Boulevard Brewing will not produce Chocolate Ale in 2013
Brewery news

Boulevard Brewing Co. announced on June, 20, that it would not produce the popular Chocolate Ale in 2013.

The Kansas City-based craft brewer said this does not mean the beer will be permanently retired, only that it won’t be in next year’s line-up.

Chocolate Ale, a collaboration with Christopher Elbow Artisanal Chocolates, sparked a buying frenzy during the past two years. In January, Boulevard brewed about 4,500 cases and 450 kegs of Chocolate Ale, intending for it to be on the shelves for about three weeks. But demand was off the charts in Kansas City, leading to bottles being sold out in less than a week.

However, even some consumers who managed to buy some of the extremely limited brew ended up disappointed when three batches later were recalled. Boulevard granted full refunds.

Boulevard said it will keep customers posted on the future of Chocolate Ale through its website and social media outlets. In the meantime, the company promised new additions to Boulevard’s portfolio, including 80-acre Hoppy Wheat Beer and Reverb Imperial Pilsner, both of which should be available later in the summer.
