USA, WA: Higher hop prices for craft brewers

Craft beer is a growing trend in Washington State, but small brewers are struggling with high hop prices, KimaTV.com reported on July, 01.

Local brewers say prices have skyrocketed as demand goes up for hops. In fact, three popular types of hops are completely sold out already.

"The more craft beer (there is) brings more people into the industry and more people into the area," said craft beer drinker, Wayne Putterson. "Turning our Yakima County into beer and wine for tourists would be awesome!"

Local craft brewers are hoping for a good year but say there has been a shortage the past few years.
