USA, WA: Hops harvest is under way in Yakima Valley
The hops harvest now under way in the Yakima Valley is larger this year to meet the demands of craft brewers looking for unique flavors for their beer, The Sacramento Bee reported on September, 6.
Hop Commissioner Administrator Ann George says production increased about 1,000 acres this year to more than 24,000 acres.
The Yakima Valley is the nation's largest hop-growing area.
New varieties of hops extend the harvest into early October.
