USA & Sweden: Brooklyn Brewery links with Carlsberg to build new brewery in Sweden
Brooklyn Brewery is teaming up with Carlsberg to build a brewery in Sweden - the US firm's largest export market, local media reported on January, 7.
The 8,000-barrel capacity site, at Stockholm's waterfront complex in Hammarby Sjöstad, will also include a public space for 100 visitors and a 150-capacity outdoor area.
New Brooklyn beers will be among those developed at the brewery and will appear by the end of this year. The beers will initially only be available in Sweden.
A team of Swedish brewers will also train at Brooklyn’s New York City brewery as part of an exchange programme.
“In turn, Garrett (Oliver, brewmaster) and the Brooklyn team will take turns visiting Sweden to brew special Brooklyn offerings - like Brewmaster’s Reserve and Worshipful Company of Brewers releases,” the company said.
Explaining the reason for the link-up, Brooklyn flagged that Sweden is its biggest export market and second largest market behind New York City. Carlsberg’s Swedish division is also its importer in the country.
