USA, WI: Baderbräu Brewing Company moves production to Stevens Point Brewery and brings back its Chicago Pilsener
Brewery news

Baderbräu Brewing Company announced the return of its Chicago Pilsener to retail shelves after shifting brewing production to Stevens Point Brewery in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, beerpulse.com reported on April, 4.

Since the re-release of Chicago Pilsener in May 2012, the company has not been able to keep up with consumer demand. With this move to Stevens Point, Baderbräu will gain ten times the production capacity and tighter control of product quality. Chicago Pilsener will be available for sale at all Binny’s Beverage Depot locations.

“We want to do right by this legendary beer and by its fans, of which I am one,” said Rob Sama, co-founder of Baderbrau Brewing Company. “We’ve been overwhelmed by consumer response for this beer. Moving production right now to Stevens Point Brewery allows us to make ten times the beer and keep a much finer control over product quality. Until we have our own large-scale brewery in Chicago, this is just the right thing to do.”

The company is currently finalizing contract negotiations on a Chicago brewery location. Details remain undisclosed but are scheduled to be announced later this year.

Originally Baderbräu was brewed in 1989 by the Pavichevich Brewing Company of Elmhurst, which at its height produced more than 14,000 barrels of Baderbräu annually. It was sold into more than 200 Chicago area bars and restaurants. In 1998, as Pavichevich Brewing met with financial difficulties and could no longer keep up with demand, Goose Island acquired the rights to brew Baderbräu and did so until 2002, when it decided to focus entirely on its Goose-branded products. In 2010, Rob Sama and Joe Berwanger formed Baderbrau Brewing Company with the assistance of master brewer and original Baderbräu pilsener creator Douglas Babcook to bring back Baderbräu Chicago Pilsener to prominence.
