Brazil: Ambev introduces new import beer from the Netherlands
Ambev, Brazil’s largest brewer and part of the world’s No. 1 beer company AB InBev, is expanding its import beer portfolio, Veja reported on September 30.
The company has added the Dutch beer Hertog Jan to its line of 15 imported beer brands in Brazil, which also includes the Belgian Leffe and Hoegaarden, the German Franziskaner, Quilmes from Argentina, and others.
Hertog Jan will be marketed exclusively through the company’s Internet-shop Empório da Cerveja, at R$30 reais per 500 ml bottle.
Today, the premium beer segment is estimated to account for 6% of Ambev’s overall sales. The company aims to increase this share to 8% by 2014.
