USA, ME: Baxter Brewing Company expanding

Baxter Brewing will now be able to brew and package 24 hours a day with its new expansion, which finished on March 4, according to WCSH-TV.

"We only filled about 30% of our orders in 2012, and that's in Maine and Massachusetts," said owner Luke Livingston.

That led to the expansion, which started last January. The first phase completed last July, which added three 240 barrel fermenters and included the hiring of nine people. Phase two finished on March 4. The goal is to fill the northern New England orders, and then to expand into new markets.

Baxter Brewing Co. is the first craft brewery in New England to use 100 percent aluminum cans.
