USA, NC: Brueprint Brewing Company opening in Apex this spring
Brewery news

Apex will get its first brewery this spring when Brueprint Brewing Company opens its doors.

The owner, Chris Wagner, said he was supposed to have his final inspection on March 4 and hopefully receive his state permit by next week. While no firm opening date is set, Wagner says he expects to be open to the public by late May, according to Triangle Business Journal.

Wagner spent the last 22 years as a water engineer, working at various wastewater management firms up and down the coast, so brewing beer came naturally to him, he says. Seven and a half years ago he settled in Holly Springs with his family. He started brewing beer at about that time.
“My sister-in-law got me a Mr. Beer kit and shortly thereafter I went into full-scale brewing. I realized I was doing it to get away from work, and thought, ‘This is what I should be doing’,” he said.

The brewery had interested investors and private funding. According to Wagner, they didn’t break the $1 million mark. “We were able to keep the cost down and have been able to be pretty creative. We did all the demolition ourselves. The building where the tasting room is, we actually took over seven offices, and we took out all the walls and built our bar out of the doors.”
