Brazil: Brazil has the third most expensive beer in South America
To buy half a litre of beer Brazilians have to pay an average of US$1.58 (R$3.51), according to data provided by Numbeo.
The amount is the third-largest in South America, only behind Venezuela (US$2.65) and Uruguay (US$2.01). Ecuador has the cheapest beer of all South American nations, with population only paying US$0.98 per half a litre.
Brazil’s government recently announced a new increase of beer taxes which will enter into force after the FIFA World Cup.
