Germany: Barley exports fall, malt shipments increase in July - October
The German statistics office reports that Germany’s grain exports fell to 4.5 mln tonnes from July to October 2014 compared to the 5.6 mln tonnes exported in the same period of the previous year.
Exports to other EU countries reached 2.3 (2.8) mln tonnes and to third countries 2.2 (2.8) mln tonnes. Barley exports stood at 418,000 (1.34 mln) tonnes, and those of malt at 193,000 (160,000) tonnes.
Grain imports totalled 3.3 (3.3) mln tonnes, thereof those from other EU countries 3.2 (3.2) mln tonnes and those from third countries 117,000 (77,000) tonnes. The imports of barley accounted for 445,000 (434,000) tonnes, and those of malt for 85,000 (78,000) tonnes.
